Growing positive interest in our great city continued last month when Baltimore was cited as one of the 10 Coolest U.S. Cities to Visit in 2018 by Forbes Magazine.

Travel blogger Ann Abel surveyed high-end travel designers to discover their favorite domestic haunts. The responses included an exciting array of cities across the nation that moved away from the most typical and predictable answers. Encouraging readers to look outside of their normal vacation comfort zones, Abel highlights cities such as Portland, Maine, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Louisville, Kentucky.

With its burgeoning food and art scenes, Abel includes Charm City, emphasizing a few specific artists either from Baltimore or exhibiting their work here. Melissa Biggs Bradley, the founder of Indagare, notes, “Baltimore’s art scene is also on the rise: Local artist Amy Sherald recently unveiled Michelle Obama’s portrait for the National Portrait Gallery and now sits on the board of the Baltimore Museum of Art. This year, the museum is showcasing such pioneering exhibitions as Moon Dust, an illumination installation work by Spencer Finch, who is known for his works at New York’s High Line Park and the National September 11 Memorial and Museum.”

Moon Dust is currently on exhibit at the Baltimore Museum of Art as well as the incredible Cloud Cities exhibit by Tomás Saraceno.
